The service and food were Stellar! My friend had a bento that was packed with food and it was tasty! I'll be back for sure.

Sushi here is good. We arrived early on a Sunday and were lucky to be seated right away. Servers were polite and you get an IPad to review their menu before your order is taken. Took a while for the bento box to come out after the other food had come so I'm giving it 4 stars. The quality of the fish and Shiso toro maki roll was good. Bento box with chicken teriyaki, salmon shioyaki, and sake roll was good when it did come out. $24 for the bento for a Sunday dinner price. Restaurant is pretty small with one bathroom so be prepared for a wait, especially if you have a large party.

I recently visited Hashi Gawa for dinner around 6:45 pm on a Tuesday. I was pretty impressed. When my friend and I walked in, we were greeted and seated right away at the last table available. It was pretty busy, but despite that, the servers were quick and attentive. When I first looked at the menu, I was overwhelmed with the amount of options they had. However, I came here with a mission -- to try the omakase. This was a great first omakase experience. It's one of the most affordable and best-value omakase options I've come across in Alameda--and possibly the Bay Area--at just $52 for 10 pieces of nigiri. When we were served, the staff explained to us that they recommended that we eat the omakase from one end to the other starting from the most lean pieces first, and finishing with the most fatty pieces. The nigiris that stood out to me were the torched sea bream, sake toro(soy marinated salmon belly with the skin on), sake(salmon) with shiso leaf on it, and the bluefin tuna akami(lean cut tuna). The sea bream was slightly fishy(but in a good way) and was balanced out by the smoky flavor from being lightly torched. The two salmon nigiris were amazingly buttery and fatty. And the tuna was simple, yet satisfying. Also, the freshness of their house-made wasabi took my friend and I by surprise. Instead of the paste that you usually see in sushi restaurants, it was more of a slimy texture with chunks of wasabi and green onion. Each piece of nigiri had a dot of wasabi, sometimes pungent enough to clear up my sinuses. I would say the only nigiri that was a miss for me was the amaebi (sweet shrimp). It didn't taste as fresh as the rest of the fish we had here. In addition to the omakase, we shared a Double Toro roll, an Angry Fish roll, and a Soft Shell Crab appetizer. I wasn't sure how mango sauce and fresh mango would be in the Double Toro roll, but the mango was refreshing and sweet, and complimented the delicate fish. It came cut in 8 pieces, 4 with wasabi on top and 4 with the mango sauce on top. As for the Angry Fish roll, although this one was solid, I think I enjoyed the Double Toro roll more. The fried onion on top that reminded me of a blooming onion was cool, but started to feel heavy at the end of the meal. The flavor of the spicy crab and spicy aioli sauce on top seemed to overpower the freshness of the fish. The soft shell crab was delicious and juicy inside, but it felt small for $. We ordered the perfect amount of food for the two of us where we felt satisfied, but take this with a grain of salt because we are certified big backs. I had a great experience and would definitely come back to try their specialty rolls and those with mango sauce.

I recently dined at Hashi Gawa Sushi Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with modern and traditional decor blending seamlessly. The service was attentive, and the staff offered great recommendations. I opted for the chef's tasting menu, and the sushi was incredibly fresh, with standout pieces like the tuna and salmon sashimi. The signature Hashi Gawa roll was a perfect balance of bold and delicate flavors. The sake selection was also excellent, pairing well with the meal. Overall, Hashi Gawa offers a top-tier sushi experience with fresh ingredients and exceptional service. Highly recommended!

This wasn't my first time here, as it's a decent mid ranged sushi spot in the neighborhood. I decided to try the kaisen don ($39) this time and it came in a pretty interesting way. Rather than in a bowl, it came more like a sashimi spread. Very aesthetically pleasing, but it made it more difficult to eat. I prefer shoveling it all in my mouth with a spoon like I could do if it came in a bowl. But on the bright side, I think there was a pretty generous amount of sashimi given and I definitely struggled to finish! I thought there were some hints of yuzu salt in some of the pieces, which I also found to be unnecessary.

It was so impressed, super great, especially the Lion King (my flavor). My husband not really like Japanese food but he loves the Japanese food here. All made by heart, it can tell. All stuff including the quality of foods (most important thing), food presentation & environment., etc worth 10 stars. I don't need to say too much, once you try it, you know what I'm saying. Highly recommended.

Great lil spot tucked in an unassuming plaza. There's something for everyone on their menu, with better than average selection of fish, and dessert (hello black sesame cheesecake)! Been here a few times and the service is always impeccable even when they're slammed.

Name a omakase in the entire Bay Area at a better price point: $52 for 10 immaculate nigiri bites ($48 if you want sashimi). The highlights for me were the seared salmon belly with a dollop of spice, the akame (lean cut tuna) with wasabi, the umimasu (trout), and kanpachi (adult amberjack/yellowtail) with soy sauce. We also love their grilled kama - they offer salmon, hamachi, kanpachi, and tai (seabream), with the last two being especially large portions. You also cannot leave Hashi Gawa without ordering their uni+ikura spoon. I personally prefer Santa Barbara uni to Hokkaido uni (in addition to being cheaper it has a firmer texture that holds up better, it is also sweeter) but YMMV. Finally, I feel the need to highlight their freshly grated wasabi--it is so good and how wasabi should taste. It is so hard to go back to the stuff from the tube after you dine here. In any case, I feel torn posting this as an Alameda native, because I would hate to see a gem of a business like Hashi Gawa become super viral and turn into Fikscue (I'll never get to eat there again sigh). But it brings me so much joy to support the lovely owners and staff of this gem of a restaurant!

Where else can you go to get your own customized Omakase? This is my fave spots in the East Bay. They always have all my favorite cuts of fish, fresh oysters, and the yummiest Uni. The prices here is always pleasing, and I always leave satisfied after having my sashimi, nigiri, and sushi fix. Never disappointed. It's a small restaurant so expect long wait on weekends, but come before 5pm and you will get a table or sit at the bar and watch the chefs do their magic. **Follow my IG for more yummy places to try! ** @Only1ChristineLu

This location still brings back so many good memories. We used to frequent this location often, almost once a week, when it was Sushi King and when Mark was the owner. Okay, I am outdating myself... Quality/Quantity - Hashi Kaisen Don - Two orders. My friend's usual order sounded so good. Beautiful plating. I enjoyed the brown rice. Can you believe I am going to say this... Could have used a little more rice. Generous FRESH portions of seafood, etc. Comes with a salad and miso soup. I would have enjoyed just a little more salad dressing, but was too lazy to ask. Three Item Dinner Bento - Chicken Karaage, CA Roll, Combo Tempura; all were good. My friend enjoyed every bite. Actually none of us had leftovers! All of us felt like we could not finish when the food came out. Guess it was that good. Many specials, see pictures. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Indoor seating only. Table or sushi bar. Open 6 days a week. Closed Mondays and only open on Tuesdays for dinner from 4:30pm to 9:30pm. On the rest of the days, their hours are 11:30am or noon until 9pm or 9:30pm. See picture or Yelp. Plenty of mall parking. Service - 6 stars. My childhood friends and I only get to see each other annually, so it was a great reunion. And we tend to talk and catch up for HOURS. Never felt any pressure to leave. Actually, they even kept refilling our waters. Thank you! Price - $112 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2021. Glad I chose this place for our "reunion" and look forward to coming back more often.
